The New Zealander also posted the fastest qualifying time to take pole in front of GP nemesis, Jonathan Barragan which would set the tone for a great day of racing. The grass start made it quite tricky for contenders but Coppins took his time getting through the first turn in all 3 motos and quickly moved his way to the front. Barragan was the only rider that posted a challenge in moto 2 but Coppins held on for an exciting win. Moto 1 and Moto 2 were a formality for the Kiwi as he collected maximum points and the overall victory. “ We had some rain in the morning which kept the track in optimum condition. I was worried after all the rain they had been having but it turned out to be just perfect. The track had good grip, no dust and really tacky which was good for training. I was pleased with my riding and had a lot of fun today. This has been the ideal preparation for the GP next weekend in Ireland. I’m looking forward to that event.” explained Coppins. Round 13 of the 15 round MX GP series will take place in Dublin at the purpose built Fairyhouse racecourse this weekend 30-31 August. Race results Ken Hall Trophy: MX1 Moto 1
