Coppins just misses pole. After leading most of the MX1 timed practice Coppins looked set for pole however Stefan Everts put a last minute effort to relegate “Lizzard” to second. The South African spectators will be eager to see the world’s best riders do battle at the spectacular Sun City circuit. ![]() “ It’s been a pretty good qualifying day. I like the track but I didn’t want to do too many laps because of the sun – it was difficult to see the lines. I had pole with four minutes to go so I didn’t want to force it and take any risks. The bike is working great and I’ll be looking for some good starts tomorrow which should make for a fun race.” Results Timed Practice 1 Everts Stefan, Bel, Yamaha, 01:52.516 2 Coppins Joshua, Nzl, Honda, 01:53.364 3 Ramon Steve, Bel, Ktm, 01:53.459 4 Townley Ben, Nzl, Ktm, 01:53.562 5 De Dijcker Ken, Bel, Honda, 01:54.005 6 Leok Tanel, Est, Kawasaki, 01:54.017 7 Jorgensen Brian, Den, Yamaha, 01:54.118 8 Pyrhonen Antti, Fin, Tm, 01:54.217 9 Smets Joel, Bel, Suzuki, 01:54.314 10 Cooper Paul, Gbr, Honda, 01:55.283 11 Leuret Pascal, Fra, Honda, 01:55.372 12 Atsuta Yoshitaka, Jpn, Suzuki, 01:55.920 13 Van Daele Marvin, Bel, Honda, 01:56.084 14 Noble James, Gbr, Honda, 01:56.122 15 Theybers Danny, Bel, Suzuki, 01:56.752 |
