The sixth round of the British MX1 championship has been dominated
by CAS Honda star, Joshua Coppins. The Kiwi has closed to within three
points of the championship lead and with two rounds to go a hard fought
title defence seems e
minent. Overnight rainfalls made for a muddy,
one lined, Landrake circuit, nevertheless organisers were pleased to
see a strong crowd turn out and some exciting battles.
Coppins blitzed
through the days racing with domination. He posted the fastest qualifying
time, hole-shot both motos and ran away with
two victories to gain maximum points and his third consecutive British
round win.
“ The track was really wet to start off with which made it rough,
very technical and one lined.. It rained hard during the night but
after practice the track started to dry out a bit. I tried to win as
easy as possible in order to conserve energy for the GP next week in
Belgium. The championship chase is really close now with three of us
within three points of each other. Should make things really exciting,” explained
Coppins.
