Heavy thunder showers marred Saturday’s qualifying session
in Nismes, however the MX1 riders were fortunate to complete their final
qualifying practice under sunny skies. Coppins made the most of the sludge
and had by far the fastest first split but couldn’t find the extra
time in the second half. The CAS Honda rider was not content with third
time.
“ I’m pretty disappointed because I had the speed to go pole
today. It was the same for everybody I suppose. A lot of guys were battling
with slow riders and I also understand that it’s difficult for
them to get off the one good line. Naturally I was disappointed because
I got held up five out of ten laps. I had the fastest split so I was
bummed not to get the pole.
I enjoy the track and I hope it dries out
a little tomorrow to make more lines. Hopefully a good start tomorrow
and we’ll see how it goes.” explained Coppins.
