| The season's just about over! MXDN, Surfing and fancy dress parties..... Hi everyone. Well the season is pretty much over – I really can’t complain
with 9 GP podiums, 1 overall win, 2 moto wins, 3rd in the MX1 series and
British champion with 14 moto wins. I have to say I’m pretty tired, happy but also sad it’s all over. It’s funny how we riders are suckers for punishment - by the end of the season we’re drained and ready for it all to stop but then we grab a few weeks rest and not long after we can’t wait to start the season again. Going back a week or two we had the MXDN in Lierop, Holland. B.T, Daryl Hurley and myself were hoping for a win but it didn’t happen how we expected. Here’s how it went: After moto 1, NZ were leading and looking good with my 3rd and BT’s 6th position finish. In Moto 2, Daryl posted 15th position, which B.T and I thought was pretty good in the deep sand while B.T was running 4th and moving up when his bike went bang in a big way. As soon as that happened it was down hill for team N.Z. Daryl was 17th in Moto 3 and I was running 4th when my clutch broke and killed all our chances. We ended up a disappointing 7th overall. After the MXDN I went to England to do a surfing event at Newquay beach on the south west coast. I got there late Wednesday night - Tom Church, Swordy and Carl Nunn had already been there a day, giving them a head start in the surf. That night we went out! It was a long night and we got in at 3.30in the morning. We were meant to grab a 9 am start but there was no chance of that happening and eventually at 10 am we started with an hour practicing, then 2 x 20 minute heats. I thrashed Nunny in 2nd, and Swordy ended up 3rd. The event was put on by dirt bike rider magazine and it was a load of fun! Thanks guys. ![]() I stayed on in England with Lisa for a bit and went to a Saturday night, fancy dress party at Mark Hucklebridge’s house. The theme was ‘back to school’- Lisa went as a school nurse and I went as a P.E teacher running a big wig mullet. It was fun but I have to say I’m a bit over all the parties. Don’t get me wrong, I like parties but it’s being so tired the next day and not getting anything done that I don’t like! Well, this weekend we have the Sheffeild super-cross, then I fly home to Belgium on Sunday morning for a mini bike race in Arendonk. B.T, Tyla, Strijbos, Bervoets and loads of us are doing it so it should be fun. If you are in the area come and cheer for me! That’s it for now, Ciao, |
