ABOUT JOSH

Josh Coppins is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished motocross riders, with a professional career spanning nearly two decades on the world stage. Born in Motueka, Josh competed in the FIM Motocross World Championships from 1993 to 2012, earning multiple Grand Prix victories and finishing runner-up in the world championship twice.

Widely respected for his consistency, work ethic, and competitive edge, Josh became known internationally as the “Kiwi Kid” and is regarded as one of the best riders of his era.

Following his retirement from professional racing, Josh transitioned into building and leading successful businesses within the motocross industry. He is the founder of Josh Coppins Racing, a premier New Zealand-based motocross team developed in partnership with Yamaha, focused on nurturing top talent and achieving elite performance both locally and internationally.

Josh is also behind Josh Coppins Motorcycles and Motorcycle Performance, where he continues to apply his experience and passion for the sport to support riders, develop bikes, and grow the next generation of motocross athletes.

Today, Josh remains deeply involved in the industry, combining world-class racing knowledge with a commitment to excellence across all areas of motocross.
